Selwyn de Wind is a renowned Curaçaoan photographer and filmmaker. After he finished his BA at the University of the Arts Utrecht, where he graduated cum laude in direction, camera, and editing, he returned to Curaçao. Here his career took a big jump. Since 2011 he has produced many large commercials, government videos, and audiovisual materials that support social interests. Because of his love for music, de Wind is also a very popular DOP and director of music video clips for top charts Curaçaoan and Dutch artists. In 2014 De Wind gained international acclaim with the taboo breaking documentary Sombra di Koló / The Shadow of Color, on the meaning of race and skin color in Curaçao, which he co-produced with director/producer Angela Roe. His latest documentary 'Atardi' addresses Rudy Plaate, one of Curaçao’s most legendary sing- and songwriters.
